If you had told the kids in the picture above that they had just met the person they’d spend the rest of their lives traveling the world with, I don’t think they would have believed you! Sandy had just graduated from university in Texas, USA, and was traveling to Europe to find something more out of life than the stereotypical “American Dream”. Marc, originally from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, had been traveling Europe already for a year and, after spending most of that time in Edinburgh, was looking for a bit of sun. That was how we met in Santorini, Greece, in the summer of 2009.
Even though our plans were heading on different trajectories at the end of the summer (Marc was moving back to Scotland and Sandy had taken a teaching job in France), we continued to meet up in different countries throughout Europe, so by the time we had known each other for a year, we had been to 10 different countries together! It was during this time that Sandy decided to move with Marc to Australia, and here we are, over 10 years later.
Since March 2019, we have been travelling and working around Australia in our Ford Ranger and Kokoda off-road caravan, with no itinerary or end-date in sight.
